Now shooters most people would look at this photo and go----> NOW THAT"S A SHOTGUN WEDDING!" Probably Dad up front wielding his gun leading the couple to the wedding spot in the woods. The obvious wife close behind holding the "bearded one" to his pillow promises as he searches left and right for an escape route!"
As the wedding unfolds the wife now assures the preacher that the "intended" is ready and the two witnesses prepare themselves. She turns and calls upon a volunteer to monitor the ceremony and hold her gun in the ready position.
After the quick ceremony the now husband kneels and gently removes the brides garter..
then turns suddenly and makes a mad dash for the
bushes....swiftly the bride sweeps up the shotgun and thwarts the escape with a single blast over his head.
In a final act of surrender the now reformed husband/run away assists his new wife in proper handling of fire arms..." It's always best darling to point the firearm down range...and NEVER at you husband!"
.....and the party went on for days!
WELL....MAYBE NOT!.....OK.. OK ---------> THE TRUTH BE KNOWN THIS IS THE WEDDING OF LINDY & NEIL MOSS FROM WASILLA ALASKA. THEY ARE THE WINNERS OF GAME # 3....AND RADIO SHOW GUESTS.
But what a wedding! Only in Alaska! Where else can you find people who are so in love with the sport AND each other that they would have a Sporting Clays shoot AND the Wedding on the same day! These two were truly meant for one another----> and where would you find so many friends to come to a wedding where guns AND a sporting event went part and parcel with the day?
I had the pleasure to meet Lindy and Neil at the RHINO RALLY in Ocala a few week ago. We were both trying to work some of the kinks in our game before the competition began. Lindy stood by watching as Neil and I blasted away. We later exchanged cards and I gave them a copy of the radio show. Some weeks later I received an email telling me about a COUPLES SHOOT that was coming up in Alaska. In our brief exchange of emails Lindy enclosed a few snap shots of their wedding.
I could not believe my eyes...as an "Alaskan Dreamer"....that would be me <---- I could not stop myself from wondering what it must be like to have so many friends that are so like-minded.
Spending much of my time in CaLEFTornia where the mere mention of a gun in public will set off a chain of events that will have a SPECIAL WEAPONS TASK FORCE surrounding you in less than the time it takes to finish your koolade....well I do envy anyone who can go to a party and discuss guns and your sport and not have people tuning their heads and moving towards the door to escape!
So my hats off to you Lindy and Neil you are very lucky folks to have found one another, live in a wide and beautiful part of our great country and enjoy the sport of shooting with so many friends. SEE YOU ON THE RADIO!
Pssst...If you insist I may have to come to Alaska to give you the flat of shells you won!!
.... hey c u at the US OPEN!
